Bloomfield wins Futures

Richard Bloomfield, from Alpington,
rounded off a very successful week by beating
Jean-Francois Bachelot, of France, 7-5 3-6 7-6 (7-2) in
the final of the LTA $15,000 Men's Futures tournament in
Manchester.
Bloomfield started the week nursing a
shoulder strain, wondering if he would be able to
complete the first round, let alone get through to the
final, having already been forced to retire the previous
week in the semi-final of an event in Newcastle, while
playing against county team-mate James Auckland. This
result will move Bloomfield back into the world's top
300.
