Injury blow for Bloomfield
November 22, 2002 11:54
IN the Malibu Wave Classic tennis tournament in California, Norfolk's
Richard Bloomfield lost to British qualifier Matthew Hanlin when he was forced
to retire with a back injury after losing the first set 6-1.
This also
meant that Bloomfield, from Alpington, and partner David Sherwood were forced to
withdraw from their doubles match.
Bloomfield was battling for fitness
for the Laguna Niguel Futures Championship, with qualifying starting
today.
The injury has come at an unfortunate time as he had travelled to
California making a major drive to improve his world ranking of 619.
