Teenager Richard Bloomfield who is in sparkling form at the
moment overcame fellow Brit Mark Hilton yesterday to clinch a place
in today's semi finals in the Men's $15,000 Futures event at
Redbridge.
Bloomfield still on a high from his victory at the $15,000 event
in Southampton last week was simply too strong yesterday for Hilton
ranked some 200 places above him, beating him in straight sets 6-3,
6-4.
His reward is a match against Italian Stefano Pescosolido (289)
for a place in his second consecutive futures event final. The
winner of today's tie face either Swede Marcus Sarstrand or American
Michael Joyce, who yesterday put paid to Welshman Ian Flanagan's
dream, with a 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 victory.
Flanagan will at least have the satisfaction of earning his first
ranking points over the last two weeks, here at Redbridge and also
at Southampton, enjoying some excellent wins along the way.
In the doubles event Britain's last representative Jamie Delgado
teaming up with South African Louis Vosloo have also reached the
semi-final stage. They face Swedish pair Daniel Andersson and Marcus
Sarstrand later today.
